Project Activities

Learning how to prevent exposure to falls hazards and silica dust on construction sites requires several steps. Explanations of each project step are described below.

Assessment Phase

When you don’t know something, nothing beats asking someone who does. This project facilitated several discussions among construction workers, contractors, supervisors, workers families and Lawrence residents to learn the reality of construction work, hazards and prevention approaches.

Activities included performing real scenes of participants' worksites to deeply understand of working conditions and opportunities for change. Also, workers drew their workplaces and showing hazards. Participants answered questions about the problems faced by Hispanic construction workers and gave ideas for solutions to reduce hazards on the job making construction sites safer for their relatives and neighbors.
