NIOSH Workplace Safety Messages on Spanish-Language
TV

NIOSH developed content for a series of short Spanish-language videos on occupational safety and health for the Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN). The videos, narrated by Maria Sofia Lioce of NIOSH, aired on a live national Spanish-language talk show on HITN. The videos featured topics on :

  • The National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH). Occupational Safety and Health topics by industry and activity, hazards and exposure information, diseases and injury, prevention, emergency preparedness and statistics data about and a complete list of all numbered publications issued by NIOSH (English and Spanish).
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Provides access to selected occupational safety and health information include specific workplace hazards, laws, regulations and interpretations for current OSHA standards and enforcement-related information (English and Spanish).
  • Pew Hispanic Center. Publications about public opinion surveys that focus on Latino views on a range of social matters and public policy issues such as demography, economics, education, identity, immigration, labor, policies and remittances.
  • Hispanics Work Safe. Training and educational materials targeted to Hispanic construction workers living and working in the USA. (English and Spanish).
  • Residential Fall Safe. It is a program dedicated to disseminating safety training information to employers and employees involved in the commercial residential construction industry.
  • Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR). Site with information about activities conducted with labor, management, and university researchers. Also, it provides publications.
  • Center for Innovation in Construction Safety & Health Research. Site with information about innovative methods to design, develop, and deliver training and continuing education to decrease the number of injuries, accidents, and fatalities in the construction industry.
  • American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Site with information about safety standards and safety technical publications such as Professional Safety.
